Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
CLAP (“Connect Like a Professional”), available at clapanimation.com, is a directory and search engine for the animation industry in Latin America: artists, companies (studios), schools, jobs, events, and contests/festivals.
The Data Controller of your personal data is Lorenzo Franco (a natural person), in Bogotá, Colombia. You can reach us at privacidad@clapanimation.com. We are not yet a registered company; if that changes, we will update this policy.
2. Legal framework
This policy is governed by Colombia’s Law 1581 of 2012, Decree 1377 of 2013, and other applicable personal-data (habeas data) rules, as well as the regulations of the countries from which the platform is accessed, where applicable.
3. What data we process and where it comes from
3.1. Profiles created from public information
A significant part of the directory is built from publicly available information. We create profiles from sources such as Instagram, company and studio websites, job boards and postings, and school websites. This data typically includes a name or artist name, specialty, country and city, links to portfolios or social media, and a website. We treat it as public data and as a legitimate first contact to give the industry visibility. If you appear in the directory and don’t want to, you can claim your profile or request its removal at any time (see section 7).
3.2. Sign-in data
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture to create and manage your account.
3.3. Data you provide when claiming or completing a profile
If you claim or edit a profile, you may voluntarily provide a bio, specialties and skills, links (portfolio, Behance, ArtStation, LinkedIn, website), a résumé (CV), experience and education, and images.
3.4. Posts and suggestions
You can post jobs, events, and awards from a claimed profile, or suggest adding a profile. If you suggest or post a third party’s information, you represent that you may lawfully do so and that it is public or authorized.
3.5. Activity and technical data
We store your in-platform activity (Saved and Applied items) and technical and browsing data described in our Cookie Policy.
3.6. Sensitive data
We do not request sensitive data (e.g. racial or ethnic origin, religious or political beliefs, health, sex life, or biometric data). Please do not include it in your CV or free-text fields. If you voluntarily include it, we understand that you authorize its processing to display your profile.
4. How we use your data
- Operate the directory and its search, and display profiles and posts.
- Let artists, companies, and schools find and contact each other.
- Create and manage your account, and handle profile claims and removals.
- Send transactional service communications.
- Measure platform usage through analytics, only if you accept in the cookie notice.
- Improve the platform, its security, and service quality.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to authorities’ requests.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. To operate, we rely on technology providers acting as Data Processors that may only use the data on our instructions:
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Platform hosting | USA |
| MongoDB Atlas | Database | USA |
| UploadThing | File and image storage | USA |
| Sign-in (OAuth) | USA | |
| Cloudflare Stream | Homepage video | USA |
| PostHog | Usage analytics (consent-based) | USA / EU |
| Resend | Transactional email delivery | USA |
Because these providers are outside Colombia, processing involves an international transfer of data. We take reasonable measures for them to offer adequate protection and confidentiality. We may also disclose data when required by law or a competent authority.
6. Your rights
- Access, update, and correct your data.
- Request proof of the authorization granted, except where the law exempts it.
- Be informed about how your data has been used.
- Revoke authorization and/or request deletion of your data.
- Object to processing and file complaints with the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC).
7. How to exercise your rights
The fastest way is to use the platform’s tools: claim your profile to manage it, or request its removal from the profile itself. You can also email us at privacidad@clapanimation.com. We may ask you to verify your identity.
Timelines (Law 1581): inquiries are answered within a maximum of ten (10) business days; complaints within a maximum of fifteen (15) business days. If information is incomplete, we will tell you within the following five (5) business days.
8. Security
We adopt reasonable technical, administrative, and human measures to protect your data against tampering, loss, and unauthorized use or access. No system is infallible, but we require equivalent measures from our providers.
9. Retention
We keep data for as long as necessary for the stated purposes or while a legal obligation exists. When a profile is removed, it stops being publicly displayed.
10. Minors
The platform is intended for people 18 and older. Minors may only use it, and have their data processed, with verifiable authorization from a parent or legal guardian, respecting the minor’s best interest.
11. Links to other sites
The platform may contain links to third-party sites we do not control. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; we recommend reading their policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect legal or product changes. We will publish the current version on this page with its update date.
